The club will now be called “Close Combat Martial Arts” instead of “..Self Defence”, to reflect what we actually do, many people making enquiries think we teach basic self defence, where as our syllabus is far more advanced.
Although we are very welcoming and supportive of beginners and new students start learning the basics, we run a complete self defence system and we are a long term, continuous martial arts club with a complete all round stand up and ground fighting syllabus, pushing for real fitness, we don’t run day long self defence seminars or short courses, and so I’ve come to the conclusion that the name change was necessary.
We will now be known as Close Combat Martial Arts, CCMA, or simply Close Combat.
As active members will know CCMA is currently closed due to unforeseen circumstances, but we will be relaunching as soon as possible.
Before this recent closure, we were running a limited, boxing focused syllabus for a couple of months, focusing on training for a charity boxing event, the event came and went on December the 1st and we continued to run the boxing classes.
We should restart a basic boxing class within the next couple of weeks, depending on the circumstances and we may have limited places available for recommended new starters.
Full Syllabus Relaunch / Close Combat Gym.
We are looking at a way of launching the full CCMA syllabus as soon as possible, we have looked at other venues that have mats and/or allow storage, but nothing seems to have fallen into place, but now we have an exciting development, CCMA will soon have its own mini-gym for 121 lessons and small group sessions for up to 8 people.
